Robert L. Freeman, Jr. Joins Previstar Advisory Board
Maryland Firefighting Veteran and Emergency Operations Specialist Brings
Wide-Reaching Expertise to Emergency Software Firm
ALEXANDRIA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Robert L. Freeman, Jr., a 35-year veteran of the Montgomery County (Maryland) Fire and Rescue Services and expert in emergency operations on local, regional and federal levels, has been named to Previstar's Executive Advisory Board.
Previstar provides the industry's most comprehensive software to help first
responders, emergency managers and medical organizations plan, exercise and train for, respond to, and recover from any incident or event.
As a Master Firefighter, Mr. Freeman specializes in fire suppression and
rescue in high-rise structures, multi-family residences, light to medium
commercial buildings, and major metropolitan transportation systems. He has
served as both the Planning Officer and the Safety Officer for Maryland Task
Force 1, a federal response team of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
"Bob brings a unique set of credentials to our Advisory Board," said
Previstar President and CEO Keith Stringfellow. "His experience in the
national capital region-with all its attendant security challenges and
demanding multi-jurisdictional coordination-in addition to the pressures of
securing high-profile events, makes him especially insightful in the world
of emergency preparedness."
In 1998, Mr. Freeman was appointed Montgomery County Fire and Rescue
Commissioner; from 2003 to 2005, he served as the Fire and Rescue Liaison,
coordinating the construction of the Emergency Operations Center and the
Office of Emergency Management facilities in the new Montgomery County
Public Service Communications Center. Mr. Freeman controlled the daily
functions of the Emergency Operations Center, served as Control Manager for
emergency activations, and coordinated responses to major incidents where
community evacuation, shelter, or other critical assistance was necessary.
In his capacity with FEMA, Mr. Freeman's deployments included the 2005
Hurricane Katrina disaster relief in the Gulf region; the 2001 Terrorist
attack on the Pentagon; the 2001 Presidential Inauguration; Operation Sail
on July 4th, 2000 in New York City, N.Y.; the 1999 Hurricane Floyd disaster
relief in North Carolina; and the 1999 North American Treaty Organization
meeting in Washington, D.C.
Mr. Freeman has also served as the annual liaison and participant of the
joint training exercises with the Secret Service and Military District of
Washington, which involves primary target hazards in the metropolitan area.
He earned a Bachelors Degree of Business Administration from the University
of Notre Dame in 1970, and a Fire Science Degree from Montgomery College,
Rockville, Maryland, in 1976. Mr. Freeman maintains numerous local, state,
and national certifications in the areas of firefighting, accreditation, and
