New Alliance Creates Premier Resource For Medical Disaster Preparedness
ALEXANDRIA, Va., Mar 21, 2007
Previstar(TM) and Medical Planning Resources, Inc. (MPR) have announced the formation of an alliance partnership that provides leading-edge disaster preparedness software with world-class expertise in medical and public health planning for emergency response.
MPR is a consulting firm that specializes in the medical and public health management of threats associated with complex emergencies and natural and manmade disasters. Previstar provides a web-based, easy-to-use, automated software system that enables emergency managers, public health and medical officials to plan for, respond to, and recover from any hazard, incident or event.
"Together we significantly enhance the resources available to our clients and customers," said Pete Marghella, President and CEO of MPR. "We have a team of talented experts who have a single overriding goal: to help our clients prepare for and respond to medical emergencies."
"This alliance creates a holistic approach to preparedness," said Previstar President and CEO Keith Stringfellow. "MPR helps the government entity or institution explore a variety of planning options, and Previstar provides a way to put the plan in place."
MPR has expertise in complex emergency, disaster and asymmetrical threat management, including the medical and public health management of catastrophic casualty events and situations involving weapons of mass destruction. The company offers a range of services, such as vulnerability assessments, exercises, education and training--but at the heart of everything is comprehensive planning.
MPR planners have unsurpassed medical and public health planning experience, including: Center for Disease Control's National Pandemic Influenza Response Plan; Iraq's Medical and Public Health Reconstruction Plan; the nation's first "Catastrophic Incident Response Plan"; the national Smallpox Response Plan; and numerous metropolitan, state and regional medical support plans.
The experts at MPR use Previstar's Continual Preparedness System (CPS) to perform predictive resource modeling to determine the resources that will be required during complex emergencies and disasters. In addition, the CPS is built on a knowledgebase that includes all the ingredients necessary to optimize the planning, response and recovery processes. This consists of detailed data related to personnel, supplies, pre-planned tasks and checklists, ICS forms and maps, plus public health and medical response templates, plus e-learning tools.
Organizations have used Previstar to prepare for bioterrorism attacks, to protect citizens and athletes at the Salt Lake City 2002 Olympics, and to recover from the multiple 2004 Florida hurricanes and Hurricane Katrina.
Today's Previstar CPS combines software initially developed at Oak Ridge National Laboratory with the intellectual capital and "best practices" gained through years of experience in demanding environments.
Previstar's predictive algorithms are the only modeling templates of their kind available today," Stringfellow continued. "When CPS is used in concert with MPR's planning process, they provide accurate projections of what will be needed during complex emergencies and disasters."
"The advantages we offer to our clients are manifold," Marghella added. "Through astute planning they are prepared for catastrophic emergencies. This enables them to respond effectively in real time as events unfold--and then recover once the disaster has passed."
"What this alliance offers is an ideal blend of experienced professionals and outstanding technology," Stringfellow said, "and it is what governments, institutions and businesses need to thoroughly prepare for whatever lies ahead."
